USAID funds the program of conserving Ha Long Bay

(TITC) – On 15th April, in Hanoi, US Embassy in collaboration with Quang Ninh People’s Committe held a ceremony to announce Ha Long Bay Alliance – An initiative for the protection and conservation of Ha Long Bay funded by US Agency for International Development (USAID).

To support the development of Ha Long Bay Alliance and the locality, USAID plans to make grants to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) in Vietnam in oder to help the organizations to protect and restore the environment in Ha Long Bay.

The initiative of Ha Long Bay Alliance aims at fostering the collaboration to ensure sustainability of Ha Long Bay by raising awareness and capacity of local governmental and non-governmental organizations to effectively manage natural resources.

IUCN’s project is expected to emphasize on policy dialog, while MCD is likely to focus on calling the involvement at the grassroots level, enhancing the capacity of non-governmental organizations in the country to improve  natural resource management and sustainable economic development. The grants  are funded in the framework of USAID’s Development Grants Program.
